Shiva Statue Trek — A Truly Special Day in Pokhara

Stunning Shiva statue at a hilltop temple, a popular pilgrimage site on the outskirts of Pokhara in Nepal.

Highlights:

  • Trek to the highest Shiva Statue in Nepal on a hilltop with scenic views of the Pokhara valley and the Annapurna range.
  • Hike through lush forests, offering an opportunity to witness diverse flora and fauna.
  • Visit to World Peace Pagoda, a Buddhist monument promoting world peace and non-violence.
  • Enjoy a leisurely boat ride on Phewa Lake, surrounded by stunning mountain views and lush greenery.
  • Explore local villages and interact with the friendly locals.

This is one of our most special day trips — and one that surprises almost every guest who joins us. It is not just a hike. It is a day that takes you through three very different but equally beautiful experiences: the calm of Phewa Lake, the serenity of the World Peace Pagoda, and the impressive presence of the Shiva Statue on the hilltop above Pokhara.

A wonderful day out for anyone — whether you are interested in culture, nature, or simply want to see a side of Pokhara that most visitors miss.

    • Trek Description

We begin the day with a gentle boat ride on Phewa Lake — one of the most beautiful lakes in Nepal. The water is calm, the mountains are reflected in the surface, and the World Peace Pagoda appears on the hilltop above. It is a very peaceful way to start the day.

From the lake we hike up to the World Peace Pagoda — a beautiful Buddhist monument that has stood here since 1973, promoting peace and non-violence. The views from here over Pokhara and the Annapurna range are already breathtaking, and the atmosphere around the pagoda is wonderfully quiet and reflective.

We then continue along the ridge to the Lord Shiva Statue — at 15 metres (49 feet) the highest Shiva statue in Nepal. The statue is remarkable in detail and scale, and the panoramic views of the Annapurna range from this hilltop are among the finest you will find anywhere around Pokhara.

We make our way back down to Pokhara in the afternoon, taking in the scenery one last time. It is a full and deeply rewarding day — and one we are always glad to share with our guests.
