Annapurna Circuit Trek — Nepal's Most Rewarding Long Trek

Two trekkers celebrate at Thorong La Pass (5,416 m) with colorful prayer flags behind them, showcasing their achievement.

Highlights:

  • A complete circuit around the Annapurna massif, offering a diverse range of landscapes
  • Stunning views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu peaks
  • Warm encounters with Gurung, Magar and Thakali communities along the way
  • Opportunities for spiritual encounters  at Hindu and Buddhist temples along the way
  • The chance to cross the Thorong La Pass (5,416 m), one of the highest passes in the world

The Annapurna Circuit is one of the most celebrated trekking routes in the world — and once you have walked it, it is easy to understand why. This is not just a trek. It is a complete journey through the heart of Nepal, taking you from lush subtropical forests all the way to the windswept heights of Thorong La Pass (5,416 m).

The circuit can start from either Pokhara or Kathmandu and takes 10 to 21 days to complete, though we are very happy to extend it to suit your pace and interests.

    • Trek Description

The route takes you around the entire Annapurna massif — through terraced farmland, ancient villages, and high-altitude desert landscapes that feel like a different world entirely. The views of Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchare are with you almost every step of the way.

One of the most memorable moments on this trek is the crossing of Thorong La Pass at 5,416 metres. It is a long and demanding day, but standing at the top — surrounded by prayer flags and panoramic mountain views — is an experience that stays with you for the rest of your life.

The trail also passes through Muktinath, one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in the Hindu and Buddhist traditions. The temples and shrines here have a quiet, moving atmosphere that many of our guests describe as one of the most unexpected highlights of the entire trek.

Along the way you will pass through villages of the Gurung, Magar, and Thakali communities — each with their own traditions, food, and hospitality. This is one of the things that makes the Circuit so special: it is as much a cultural journey as a physical one.

One practical note worth mentioning: unlike many other treks in Nepal, the Annapurna Circuit is also possible during the monsoon season, as the route through the upper Mustang region receives significantly less rainfall than elsewhere.

    • Trekking Seasons

The Annapurna Circuit passes through dramatically different landscapes and altitudes, so weather conditions can vary greatly depending on where you are on the trail.

      Autumn (September to November)

Our most recommended season. Temperatures are mild and stable, skies are clear, and the mountain views are at their finest. Daytime temperatures at lower elevations reach 15–25°C (59–77°F), dropping significantly at higher elevations and below freezing at night.

      Spring (March to May)

Another excellent season with warm days and good visibility. The lower sections of the trail are colourful with rhododendron blossom. A wonderful time to be on the circuit.

      Summer (June to August)

Most of Nepal receives heavy monsoon rain during these months — however, the upper section of the Annapurna Circuit around Mustang is in a rain shadow and stays relatively dry. A good option if your schedule does not allow for autumn or spring. Please do reach out and we will advise you on the best approach for this season.

      Winter (December to February)

The coldest and most challenging season. Thorong La Pass can be blocked by snow and temperatures can drop to -20°C (-4°F) or below at higher elevations. Trekking is possible on the lower sections but we would always advise careful planning. Please feel free to contact us and we will guide you honestly.

    • What To Pack
