Trekking Crew for Regular Trek

Nepal is a country of breathtaking beauty, with its majestic mountains, lush valleys, and vibrant culture. The opportunity to trek through these landscapes is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that should not be missed.  In fact, starting from April 1st, 2023, it is mandatory to book a licensed guide to accompany you on your journey. So plan accordingly and make sure to book your guide in advance to avoid any inconvenience.

Not only will a local guide ensure your safety and wellbeing, but they will also provide you with an in-depth understanding of the culture and people of Nepal. They will take you off the beaten path and introduce you to the local communities, giving you a truly authentic experience. And by supporting the local economy, you will be making a positive impact on the lives of the Nepalese families who rely on tourism as their main source of income.

When you hire a local guide or helper, you are not just paying for a service, you are investing in a relationship. These individuals are not just your companions, they are your friends, and they will go above and beyond to make sure that your trek is unforgettable.

We understand that trekking in Nepal is not just about the destination, but also about the journey. Hiring a local guide or helper will not only enhance your experience, but it will also leave a lasting impact on the lives of the Nepalese people. And for that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The cost of hiring a local guide or helper for a regular trek is reasonable and ranges per day from:

  • 30-35 USD for a guide
  • 20-30 USD for a helper-guide (porter-guide)
  • 20-25 USD for a helper (porter)

The cost of the crew's expenses, such as food, lodging, transportation, and insurance, are included in the price. However, your local guides would appreciate a gratuity if you are pleased with their service.

Guide

Guides in Nepal are specially trained and licensed by the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN). They are required to have very good English language skills to ensure smooth communication with their clients.

A guide's primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and comfort of their guests, and they are available 24/7 in case of emergencies. They have also undergone first aid training to handle any unexpected situations that may arise.

In addition to their safety responsibilities, licensed guides in Nepal possess a deep understanding of the country's culture and are experts on the trekking routes in the region. They also act as entertainers in the evenings, arranging transportation and accommodation along the trek.

One unique aspect of guides in Nepal is that they also take care of their guests' food needs, taking orders and serving meals throughout the trek. This added level of service and attention to detail sets Nepalese guides apart from those in other trekking destinations.

Helper-Guide

A helper-guide is a combination of a guide and a porter, providing assistance with both organizational and physical tasks during a trek.

They help with transportation and accommodation arrangements, as well as carrying a maximum of 10 kg of guests' luggage.

However, it should be noted that as they are still in training, their fluency in English and service skills may not be as polished as a fully trained guide.

Helper

A helper, also known as a porter, is a person who assists in carrying the guests' luggage during a trek.

Some guests may have concerns about hiring a helper, feeling uncomfortable with having someone else carry their belongings. However, it is important to understand that the helpers rely on this income to support their families. Without work as a helper for trekking guests, they would have to carry much heavier loads for guesthouses in the mountains, for a much lower salary.

To address these concerns, we make sure that the helpers do not have to carry excessive weight and have set a maximum limit of 15 kg.

Additionally, it should be noted that helpers usually have limited fluency in English.
