Sunrise on Sarangkot — The Most Beautiful Morning in Pokhara

Stunning view of the Annapurna peaks from Sarangkot, a popular trekking viewpoint in Nepal.

Highlights:

  • Experience a breathtaking sunrise over the Annapurna range and stunning mountain vistas from Sarangkot hilltop.
  • Enjoy a scenic drive or hike to Sarangkot with opportunities to observe local life and scenic beauty.
  • Take in the fresh mountain air and peaceful atmosphere at Sarangkot.
  • Photograph the Annapurna range as it lights up in the golden morning light — truly unforgettable.
  • Visit nearby traditional villages and learn about the cultural heritage and lifestyle of the local people.

We always say: if you do one thing in Pokhara, make it the sunrise on Sarangkot. Yes, it means an early start — depending on the season, we pick you up between 4:30 and 5:30am. But the moment the first light touches the peaks of the Annapurna range and the whole massif turns golden, every sleepy minute is completely forgotten.

This is one of those experiences that guests mention years later. We are always honoured to be part of it.

    • Tour Description

From Pokhara, we drive to the base of Sarangkot hill while the city is still asleep. From there, a short but rewarding ascent of about 45 minutes to an hour brings you to the summit — with views of the city, Phewa Lake, and the mountains growing more beautiful with every step.

At the top, you will be standing face to face with some of the most iconic peaks in the world — Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchare — as the sun slowly rises behind them. The colours change from deep blue to pink to gold in a matter of minutes. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful things we have ever seen — and we have been here many, many times.

After spending some time at the summit taking in the views, we make our way back down and return to Pokhara in time for breakfast. A perfect start to any day in Nepal.

    • Weather

The Sarangkot sunrise tour can be enjoyed throughout the year. Clear skies make for the most spectacular views, so autumn and spring are particularly wonderful — but even in other seasons the experience is very special.

Autumn (October to November) and Spring (March to May)

The finest seasons for clear mountain views. Temperatures at the summit in the early morning can be cool — around 10–15°C (50–59°F) — so a warm layer is recommended.

      Winter (December to February)

Cold at the summit before sunrise, sometimes as low as 5°C (41°F). Warm clothing is essential. The views on a clear winter morning are absolutely stunning.

Summer / Monsoon (June to September)

Cloud cover can occasionally obscure the views during the monsoon season, but on clear mornings the experience is just as rewarding. Please do reach out and we will advise you honestly based on the forecast.

Please feel free to check the weather forecast for Sarangkot before your tour.
