The Mountains Give Us Everything — We Try to Give Something Back
When I started Breathe Nepal Trekking, I made myself a simple promise. That every trek we do would leave something good behind. Not just memories for our guests — but real, tangible benefit for the people and places we pass through.
These mountains are our home. The teahouse families, the porters, the village children, the trails themselves — they are not a backdrop for tourism. They are the reason we are here. And they deserve to be looked after.
Here is how we try to do that.
Clean Mountains — The Litter Free Himalaya

Our guide Deependra runs the #Litter_FreeHimalaya campaign — organising clean-up activities on mountain trails, in wetlands, and in local villages. We raise awareness among our guests, our guides, local schools, and fellow tourism workers about responsible waste management and reducing plastic in the Himalayan region.
We ask every guest who treks with us to follow Leave No Trace principles and carry their waste back down. It is a small thing. But on a mountain that thousands of people walk every year, small things add up to something significant.
Education — Because It Changes Everything

One of the things we care most deeply about is children's education. Through the Ohhee Khusi Nepal Foundation, we contribute to school support, educational materials, accommodation, food, and learning opportunities for children from remote and disadvantaged communities in Nepal.
A child with access to quality education has a future. And a community with educated children has a foundation. That matters to us more than we can easily put into words.
Our Helpers and Mountain Workers Deserve Better

Helpers and mountain workers make trekking in Nepal possible. Without them, none of this exists. And yet they are often the least visible and least protected people in the entire industry.
We pay our helpers fairly. We keep loads within safe limits. We make sure they are insured, properly equipped, and treated with the dignity they deserve. Wherever we can, we also support their professional development and education.
This is not a policy. It is just the right thing to do.
Keeping the Money Where It Belongs

When you trek with us, your money does not disappear into a large agency. It stays here — in the teahouses where you sleep, in the hands of the local guide walking beside you, in the small shops where you buy your snacks, in the communities whose trails you walk through.
We work with local guides, porters, drivers, and teahouse families at every step. We encourage our guests to buy local, eat local, and engage genuinely with the people they meet. Tourism that gives back to local communities is the only kind of tourism we believe in.
Culture and Nature — Both Worth Protecting

The Himalayas are home to extraordinary cultures and fragile ecosystems. We try to protect both by:
- Encouraging respectful interactions between guests and local communities.
- Raising awareness about wildlife conservation.
- Supporting the protection of mountain environments that took thousands of years to form and can be damaged in a single season.
We also believe in equal opportunities for everyone in our team — regardless of gender or background. The mountains are for everyone. So is the future we are trying to build.
Our Vision
We want to show that tourism can be a force for good. That every trek can support local people, protect nature, preserve culture, and create real opportunities for the next generation.
This is what responsible tourism and ecotourism mean to us in practice. Not just words on a page — but a genuine commitment to doing things differently. Choosing local over large. Giving back over taking. Leaving the mountains better than we found them.
When you choose Breathe Nepal Trekking, you become part of that. Not just a guest — but a genuine contributor to something we care deeply about.
We are grateful for every person who walks these mountains with us. And we will keep doing our best to make sure the mountains are still here — and still beautiful — for everyone who comes after.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Enjoy Nepal.
